The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass
October 26 and 27, 2024
Rusty Rail Brewery, Mifflinburg
We are revisiting a program SVC presented several years ago. It’s a joyful affirmation of life expressed in sophisticated choral sound and jubilant bluegrass harmonies. This 35-minute work is comprised of 12 parts and follows the traditional form of a Mass; taking a very familiar thematic structure and setting it in a fresh and communal way. Monroe Crossing will join us again for this concert. The event will also feature other Appalachian songs; and of course, Rusty Rail beer will be on tap!
A Candlelight Christmas
December 14 and 15, 2024
Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury
We are continuing what has become an annual SVC tradition. This concert will showcase new music selections accompanied by the Commonwealth Brass Ensemble, organ, harp, and percussion. Many of our audience members come back year after year, eager to surround themselves with the sounds of the season, savoring every beautiful note. Join us for this festive musical offering that highlights the true themes of Christmas.
Alzheimer’s Stories
March 8 and 9, 2025
Stretansky Hall, Susquehanna University
This concert will mark the 15th Season Anniversary of Alzheimer’s Stories which was commissioned and premiered by SVC and has since been performed worldwide. An added dimension to this event will be the incorporation of a new, engaging video supplement, simultaneously running along with the music during the presentation. We look forward to the opportunity to share this poignant and powerful work, bringing light to a disease that effects so many lives, but one that has been profoundly impacted through music.
POPS The Best of 30 Years – Part One!
May 2 and 3, 2025
Weber Auditorium, Susquehanna University
We end the season celebrating Bill Payn’s 30 years as SVC Conductor and Music Director by going through the archives and pulling out of some of his and YOUR favorites. But there’s too much for just one concert, so we’re stretching it across two seasons! It’s sure to be a fun trip down memory lane, and who knows what parade of costumes will come out of storage for the occasion. As always, this event will feature the SVC stage band and some of our very own talented soloists.
