Camp eXpresso! 2015 Targets Budding Young Singers

The Susquehanna Valley Youth Chorale (SVYC) and music director Valerie Flamini Caldwell will present Camp eXpresso! 2015, a week-long training camp for singers to be held August  3 – 8 (Showcase Concert, August 8) at Central Oak Heights (COH), West Milton.

This year’s camp includes options for morning half-days ($200) and full-days ($350) and is open to any singers who have finished 3rd grade to those approaching 12th grade who want to improve their stage singing skills. Solo experience and a music teacher referral are required for full-day students. Students with a sibling registered in the full-day camp qualify for a $100 discount off the half-day fee.

Camp eXpresso! 2015 challenges singers to balance the demands of singing well technically with the enjoyment of expressing their inner most artistic self. It is an excellent opportunity for budding young performers to gain valuable learning tools for expressive and successful stage singing from an expert staff of experienced music professionals. Activities will encourage communication and cooperation in a nurturing, engaging educational environment.

Highlights of the camp include expressive singing tools, choreography, sign language for song, solos for every full-day camper, studio voice lessons, guest artists, a camp T-shirt, free concert open to the public in the beautiful outdoor Tabernacle at COH, and fun!

Camp eXpresso! was initiated in 2013 and praised by parents and campers for the “phenomenal music experience” and the high quality of the performance. The camp was cited for its impact on singer confidence and the opportunity for campers to bond with others interested in the vocal arts. Most camp activities are held outdoors on the wooded COH campus.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, June 30. The desire to provide a quality experience means space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is encouraged.
